Point-to-Point Communication Based on TCP/IP Protocol

Yuan Li · 2002

TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) is a multi layer connection oriented network communication protocol. TCP/IP provides the solution to the connection of different network system. And the communication procedure is: connection→data transmission→disconnect. PPP(Point to Point Protocol), the point to point protocol defined by IETF, is to replace Serial Line Internet Protocol(SLIP). PPP provides solution to the direct data transmission between applications connected with point to point line. This article explains the basics of TCP/IP and PPP, and presents the implementation of LAN communication with Delphi 5 platform in purpose of comprehending the fundamental of communication with basal protocols.
