Peer-to-Peer Information Retrieval Based on Semantic Routing

Xiong Qi-bang · Jisuanji fangzhen · 2004

Efficient and stable information retrieval mechanism has been the hot of this research area. The existing search technologies include flooding messages or Distributed Hash Table(DHT). Although, schemes based on DHT can provide good search performance, they don′t work for approximate, range queries. And flooding messages cause low efficiency. Using semantic routing mechanism can solve these problems well.Semantic Routing is a method of pruning a flooding search such that queries are preferentially forwarded to nodes that can answer those queries. This paper introduces semantic routing, and presents a P2P search system infrastructure based on it. At last, simulation using a NeuroGrid simulator is done and the result shows that using semantic routing can improve search efficiency.
