Recent developments in metadiscourse research abroad

Metadiscourse has received increasing attention and developed into a dynamic field.Recent years have witnessed a boom of research on metadiscourse abroad,and much progress hasbeen made in both theoretical inquiries and empirical studies.This paper focuses on the latest trends,concerning its theory,methodology,theoretical models and categorization.The review includes the following:two research traditions of reflexivity vs.textual interaction and their corresponding approaches,the studies from socio-cognitive perspective,the categorization models proposed by Burneikaite,del and Abdi,the translation issues,and the cross-linguistic studies.
