Liu Lan-fe · 2005

Objective To explore the value of exploratory eye movements in the diagnosis of schizophrenia. Methods Sixty one patients with schizophrenia and fifty six normal controls were examined by eye exploratory movement instrument. The number of eye fixation(NEF) and the responsive search scores(RSS) were recorded and the sensitivity, the specificity and the positive predictive value were calculated. Results NEF and RSS in patients with schizophrenia were significantly lower than those in the normal controls. The sensitivity and the specificity of NEF and RSS and the positive predictive value were good. Conclusion Exploratory eye movements can be used as a supplementary means in the diagnosis of schizophrenia.
