DING Wen-jiang and Chinese Early Archaeology

Taking 1928 as a line, Chinese archaeology could be divided into two periods. Early Chinese archaeology had a scientific color, which had close relationship with the Geology investigation Institute led by DING Wen-jiang. The excavation of Yangshao culture and Zhoukoudian ape man relics laid a foundation to the Chinese archaeology. At the same time, the knowledge Ding had in geology, biology and anthropology was the main force in Chinese early archaeology.
