Improvement of a Extended Polygonal Line Algorithm and Its Application in Minutiae Extraction of Fingerprint

With the analysis of the principal curves,the extended polygonal line algorithm and the specialties of fingerprint,the original extended polygonal line algorithm is improved a lot,and becomes much more suitable for the extraction of the skeletonization of fingerprint.Then the minutiae extraction based on the skeletonization is achieved.The improved extended polygonal line algorithm proves more effective in skeletonization in a short time and the minutiae extraction based on the skeletonization is accurate compared with some traditional methods,thus it is more practical.
