Designing Uniform and Nonuniform Cosine-modulated Filter Banks Using the Frequency Response Masking Approach

A method for designing uniform and nonuniform cosine modulated filter banks is presented.This method use the frequency response to design the prototype filter.The objective function is expressed as the fourth-order of the filter coefficients,which is minimized by using the iterative algorithm.The nonuniform CMF banks is derived in association with a uniform CMF bank,each constituent nonuform filter is formed by merging the relevant uniform filters in the associated uniform CMF bank.The method is simple and efficient.A design example is provided to demonstrate the validity of the method.
