Smart Loudspeaker System with Current Feedback

LI Xianshen · Audio Engineering · 2015

A smart loudspeaker system is proposed for small loudspeakers. In this system, linear loudspeaker parameters online identification can be done using the voice coil current as feedback from the loudspeaker, and these parameters are then used for adaptive loudspeaker low frequency equalization. The target response for equalization is a Butterworth high-pass filter, and the relationship between its cutoff frequency and the loudspeaker parameters is also derived. Simulation results show that this equalization algorithm extends the loudspeaker's low frequency response effectively while protecting against excessive diaphragm excursions.
