In mobile communication, the High Power Amplifier(HPA) is typically a non-linear amplifier. In order to reduce out of band power leakage and increase the efficiency of HPA,Peak-to-average power ratio(PAR) of modulation signal must be as small as possible.CQPSK modulation scheme has been proposed as the forward link modulating technique for WCDMA and CDMA2000.This scheme can effectively reduce PAR,increase the efficiency of the HPA and reduce out-of-band power regrowth. In this paper,we propose the principle of complex scrambling, analyze the PAR reduction of CQPSK signal.Lastly we discuss the benefit brought by CQPSK for HPA design.
