Segmentation of Video Frames based on Marker-controlled Watershed

In order to get the variational tendency representing the expanding and shrinking of the artery and vein vessels, the extraction of the vessels border becomes the key point after converting the initial AVI video into frame sequences. One method based on maker-controlled watershed is proposed to segment the ultrasonic frames of vessels.Because of the low-contrast as well as strong noise for the ultrasonic images, wavelet enhancement is necessary before the marking stage in this method.Compared with the conditional region-based method, the borders of targets could be obtained more accurately by applying the presented method. With this method, the section area curve of the artery and vein vessels is acquired in the uninterrupted time thus making the doctors' diagnosis more precise. So this method proposed in this paper is more suitable for the segmentation of ultrasonic images.
