The Just-Noticeable-Difference of Natural Image Definition

The JND (just-noticeable-difference) of contour rendering (CR) is defined by means of paired comparison and staircase method on LCD,using Chinese characters and natural images. Blurring is achieved by a two dimension Gaussian convolution. The parameter σ in Gaussian function is taken to be the measurement of JND of CR. Statistical analysis indicates that image content does not significantly influence JND of CR. The JND of CR defined on CRT in formal experiment are proved to be equivalent to the results on LCD from the point of view angle.
