Progress of 3GPP LTE Standardization

3GPP initiated its Long Term Evolution (LTE) standardization work to retain its technology and standard advantages in the field of mobile communications. Several advanced technologies and novel concepts related to the physical layer (layer 1), air interface protocol structure layer (layer 2) and network architecture are adopted. Solutions to Voice over IP (VoIP) and Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) are in the optimization process. 3GPP LTE has fulfilled the high data rate, low latency and an all-packet basis.
