Analysis of the Nodes Importance in Network Synchronization

By introducing node contraction, this paper analyzes the node importance in network synchronization. According to theory analysis, network synchronizability are enhanced after the node contraction regardless of undirected path, undirected circuit and star networks. However, for the classic BA scale-free networks and WS small-world networks, the results from the numerical simulation have shown that contracting different nodes can enhance the synchronizability and also weaken. It indicates that different nodes have different roles in synchronization--suppressing on one hand and promoting other. Based on this phenomenon, in the application of network synchronization, we need to control the nodes which have different function in selectivity, thereby achieving the purpose of making full use of the whole node.
