Application of carbon nanotubes as the catalyst supporting hydrogenation of o-nitrotoluene at atmospheric pressure

Lu De · Journal of Zhejiang University of Technology · 2002

The performance of Ni\|catalysts supported on carbon nanotubes was studied. The heterogeneous hydrogenation of o\|nitrotoluene under atmospheric pressure was used as the probe reaction in a pulse injection micro\|reactor. Ni\|catalysts supported on carbon nanotubes, active carbon, \$γ\$\|Al\-2O\-3 and SiO\-2 were evaluated respectively. The results show that the conversion of o\|nitrotoluene and the selectivity of o\|toluidine were 80% and 100% on the carbon nanotubes supported Ni\|catalyst at 493K. The conversion was 2.36, 1.83, 1.49 times over the active carbon, \$γ\$\|Al\-2O\-3 and SiO\-2 supported Ni\|catalysts respectively under our testing conditions.
