Wideband Direction of Arrival Estimation Based on Spatial Time-Frequency Distribution

A novel wideband direction of arrival estimation method is proposed based on the recently developed concept of spatial time-frequency distribution(STFD).The key idea of the method is to exploit the distinct time-frequency signatures of sources and the focusing technique in coherent signal subspace method.This method em-ploys a modified coherent signal subspace principle involving coherently averaging over a preselected set of t-f points for each source rather than the conventional frequency-only averaging procedure for all sources.The pro-posed method has the ability to select the signal of interesting and suppress interference and noise.And the method performs better than the conventional STFD based method.Simulation results verified the efficiency of the new method.
