A directed graph can be used to describe the brittleness connection of subsystems of a complex system.The distur-bances can cause the collapse of a subsystem,and a series of collapse reactions may result in collapse of the whole complex system.The collapse path of a complex system can be formed by a brittleness tree.And the shortest collapse time of a complex system can then be determined.If the sub-systems can be improved before the shortest time,the collapse of the whole complex system will be controlled and prevented.
