Analysis and control of temperature runaway phenomenon of catalyst bed layers in MTBE unit

The temperature runaway of catalyst bed layers in catalytic distillation tower in the starting of MTBE device in 2010 at Dalian Petrochemical Company is discussed and analyzed.The factors causing temperature runaway and relevant measures are reviewed in order to improve the steady rate of plant operation and start/shutdown process,and to extend the service life of the catalysts.
