Simvastatin combined with ezetimibe in treatment of patients with hypercholesterolemia

Objective To investigate the efficacy of ezetimibe combined with simvastatin in treatment of patients with hypercholesterolemia.Methods Sixty patients with hypercholesterolemia were randomly divided into two groups: experimental group(n=30,simvastatin and ezetimibe) and control group(n=30,routine simvastatin,20 mg/d).The lipid levels of all patients were assessed after 10 days' treatment.Results After 10 days' treatment,the lipid levels of both groups decreased.In the control group,the lipid levels of TC,TG,LDL-C and Apo-B decreased(P0.05).Meanwhile,in the experimental group,the lipid levels decreased(P0.01).The lipid levels in the experimental group decreased more remarkably than that in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion Simvastatin combined with ezetimibe can produce further lipid lowering effects than only simvastatin in patients with hypercholesterolemia.
