An Approach to Assess Weapon System Effectiveness Based on Damage Analysis of Opposed Object
Tang Guo-jin · Acta Armamentarii · 2008
Since weapon system effectiveness can be evaluated by measuring the damage of its opposed object,an approach to assess weapon system effectiveness based on damage analysis of opposed object was presented. The multi-valued damage tree was established to analyze functional damage and component damage of opposed object under combat conditions.Damage classes and logic operators were defined to represent different damage degrees and the relationships of the events with different damage classes in the damage tree respectively.Finite state machine models were employed to accomplish quantificational analysis of damage tree and to calculate probabilities of top event. Then the conclusion of weapon system effectiveness was obtained. The approach was applied to a kind of missile system by the actual example to assess its penetration effectiveness and the result was given.
