Characteristics of Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy(FTIR) and X-ray diffraction(XRD) for heat-treated Masson pine wood were studied using FTIR spectrometer and XRD instrument. The results showed that: 1) with the increases of temperature and time during the heating treatment, the intensity of hydroxyl absorption peak in the infrared absorption spectrogram decreased significantly, and that of carbonyl decreased slightly. These changes were beneficial to the increase of wood dimensional stability.2) When the heating treatment temperature changed from 160 to 220℃,the crystallinity of wood presented the tendency of increase-decrease-increase.At the temperature of 200℃,the crystallinity of wood decreased as the heat treatment time increased on the whole, except that it increased slightly at the heating treatment time of 2?hrs.3) Except for the treatment at 200℃ for 4?hrs,other treatments had little effect on the width of wood crystal region, and its change was within the scope of 3%.
