On the Design of GIS-based Urban Planning and Management Information System

One of the main components of digital city is the GIS-based urban planning and management information system. This paper firstly analyzed the requirements for GIS application in the urban planning and management departments. And a frame of a GIS-base CSCW (Computer supported collaborated work) system for urban planning and management was proposed. The main procedure for system design and implementation was presented and some key technology was discussed. The conclusions and suggestion for further development were also given.
