Automatic classification and extraction of vehicle-borne laser point cloud is the base and key step for 3Dcity modeling.In the paper,a road sideline automatic classification and extraction algorithm was presented using point cloud(including abundant basic information such as local coordinates based on laser scanning system,gradient value and so on)obtained by SSW Vehicle-Borne Mobile Modeling and Surveying System.Road sideline point cloud data were classified through rough extraction and accurate extraction,then the least square algorithm was used to fit to generate the road sideline vector file automatically.
