DoS Attacks at Network Layer in Ad Hoc Networks

Based on the analysis of the security vulnerability in AODV protocol which is one of the most common route protocols in Ad Hoc networks,a novel DoS attack aiming at the weakness of local connection was proposed.In the attack malicious nodes join in the route normally,however in the routing maintenance process they interfere the management of local connection by increasing the cycle of HELLO message.That leads to some unnecessary routing repair or reconstruction.When malicious nodes are many enough,DoS attack could happen.The NS2 simulation proves that this attack method reduces the network performance seriously.
