Improved Algorithm of Sub-pixel Full Search for H.264
Gang Wang · Journal of Chinese Computer Systems · 2013
H.264 is a high-performance video codec technology. It has greatly improved in many ways compared with other standard.Full Search is the most direct block-matching algorithm.Because of its superiority in image quality,FS often used as a reference to the other algorithm in image quality.Since H.264 algorithm possibly gets local optimal points,we present an improved algorithm to solve this problem. The proposed algorithm searches all possible points, prevent to get local best points and effectively avoid the disadvantage of H.264 algorithm.Study proves that the improved algorithm can further improve the image quality for more than 0.3db as compared with H.264 sub-pixel full search algorithm. As this algorithm has better performance than H.264 sub-pixel full search algorithm in image quality,it can be used as a reference for other sub-pixel search algorithm and evaluate the merits of other algorithms in image quality.
