A Taxonomy of Dynamic Spectrum Access Technologies and Current Research Progress
Guohui Zhong · Communications technology · 2008
As an important application of cognitive radio, dynamic spectrum access (DSA) can improve the spectrum efficiency by opportunistically accessing spectrum holes due to temporal and spatial traffic statistics. This paper presents a taxonomy of DSA, and focuses on the characteristics of three models and their technical challenges. Current research progress of American DARPA’XG project, IEEE 802.22 and European End-to-End Efficiency (E3) project are described. Finally it discusses future applications of DSA technology.
