An Improved Method of Reducing Speckle Noise in SAR Image

The imageries of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) are used increasingly,but the application of SAR is obstructed by speckle noise to a large extend. This paper firstly studied the common speckle noise filters. Then the median filter was combined into the common filters,such as Lee,Frost,Kuan filter. The result showed that the improved algorithms can filter the speckle noise in SAR image more efficiently,and have much stronger ability to preserve edge than the traditional filter methods.
