Software test validity assessment method based on software defect analysis

To assess software test validity with software defect information detected by software test activities,and improve software test process,the software test validity method based on defect metrics and defect baselines is put forward.Firstly,a software defect classification schema is built based on orthogonal defect classification.The relevance between defect trigger characteristics,defect type statistical property and software test activities is analyzed,and the software defect baselines are built.Through analyzing the deviation between practical software metrics and the software defect baselines,the software test validity is assessed,and the improvement direction of software test activities is identified.Example analyses show that this method can be easily used in the qualitative assessment of software test validity.
