The Inspiration Provided by the Natural Immune Mechanism to the Information Security Technology

Qiao Yan · Systems engineering and electronics · 2002

A natural immune system acts the same role as an information security system does. The former protects body from antigen and the latter defends information against intrusion and virus. Natural immune systems have many features such as multiple layers, distributability, diversity, error tolerance, dynamic protection, adaptability, associative memory and self protection. This paper reviews the application of the immune mechanism in information security system available and explains a rich source of inspiration provided by these features for building a robust, distributive, adaptive information security system.
