Two-dimensional Direction Finding Using Matrix Filter Technique

Almost all the subspace-based DOA estimation algorithms fail when the number of source is more than the sensors. One solution to this problem is presented in this paper.A matrix filter is used to preprocess the received data matrix. The result is that the signal subspaces are confined to small angular sectors,so the effective number of signals present is reduced. Then the two-dimensional directions of signals in passband are estimated via cumulants-based DOA matrix method. The proposed method can improve the estimation ability to signals in passband without regard to all the interferences in stopband.Computer simulations prove the performance.
