Function of remote monitoring and its design in EPON

In a switched LAN, the best place for RMON agent, which can monitor all the flux in a net segment, is inside of the switch. In this paper, the function of RMON is introduced, then the factors of the cost is discussed, and an optimized method of design which can fulfill the functions of all the group of RMON in the switch network is also given.
