Analysis and Simulation of Wireless Sensor Networks

Network simulation is an effective tool for evaluation of performance of the communication networks.In wireless sensor networks,sensor nodes should be able to detect the potential targets in real time and cooperate with other nodes for information processing.However,these new characteristics can not be supported by the traditional network simulation tools.In the paper,The model of wireless sensor network is built through analysis of the network architecture and requirement for application.Then,combined with the communication capabilities,energy consumption and application implementation of the traditional networks,the performance evaluation metrics are provided.In addition,NS-2 extension is discussed.
