A Mechanism for Message Authentication using HMAC-SHA1

HMAC-SHA1 is a safe mechanism for message authentication using cryptographic hash functions and key. In the transmission way data couldn′t be inserted, modified and registered completely. It protects the integrity, reliability and the security of data. The success is due to the security of the selected hash functions, key and key exchanging mechanism. Beginning with the concept of HMAC and SHA1,the thesis brings forward to a message authentication mechanism based on SHA1, analyses the principle and process, and discusses the secure performance ulteriorly.
