A Probe into Some Problems in English-Chinese Machine Translation

Machine Translation (MT) and Human Translation (HT) bear no difference in their objectives. However,problems arising from MT systems are quite different from those of human translation. This article summarizes some problems peculiar to English-Chinese MT at three levels: morphology,syntax and text. Some possibilities of solving these problems are also discussed in this article.
