AZM-LEACH:autonomous zone-based multi-hop routing protocol in WSNs

Energy efficient routing is an important issue for extending the wireless sensor network lifetime. This work begins with thorough analyses and investigation of existing LEACH protocol. On this basis,an autonomous zone-based multi-hop routing protocol,i.e.AZM-LEACH,is proposed,in which the total energy consumption is optimized, and the energy balance is considered as well. The main idea is to avoid direct(single hop) communication between sink and cluster heads which are far away.Simulation experiments demonstrate that, compared to the LEACH,the proposed AZM-LEACH routing mechanism achieves better performance in terms of node energy consumption and network lifetime.
