Learning the lessons of power cable fires in recent years and using the digested statistical data of the power cable fires the authors of this paper identified the causes for cable fires by the fault tree analysis method.Preventive measures were established according to different causes for power cable fires based on the principle of putting fire pre-vention first while combining fire prevention and fire fighting with a view to raise the safe operation level with the ca-ble and prevent fires.
