Introduction and extension of south maize germplasm resistance to corn borer

Ninety two maize germplasm materials were introduced from CIMMYT,and 46 of them with middle resistance to Asian corn borer were selected. After further screening,absorbing and creating,five hybrids including Guisan 5,Guidan 26,Guidan 30,CG17,and Nan 60-1×CML 54,which had high-yield,better resistance to disease and corn borer were obtained.To the end of 2002,three maize combinations Guidan 26,Guidan 30,and Guisan 5 were demonstrated and extended for 90.07 thousand hm2in Nanning,Laibin,Baise,Hechi,Fangcheng of Guangxi,and the yield of maize was increased 47.7114 million kg,the average increasing yield was 529.65 kg/hm2,the increasing output value was 66.7867 million yuan RMB,it obtained significant social and economic benefit.
