Gesture recognition based on Kinect and application in the virtual assembly technology

Xiaoqin Zhou · Electronic Design Engineering · 2013

To achieve a natural and convenient Human-Computer interactive process in Virtools, the virtual assembly technology based on Kinect is designed. The technology stably tracks fingertips through a three-dimensional multi-finger detection combined with Kalman filtering, and defines a variety of required assembly gestures based on the fingertips features. This system uses Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 as the development tool. After designed and edited,Building Block related gestures are integrated in Virtools environment and interaction of gestures in the virtual assembly is realized.Experiments show that the technology effectively completes the virtual assembly process.
