Energy Efficient Protocol Based on Improved PSO for Wireless Sensor Networks

Hao Liu · Microcomputer Information · 2010

Leach is a low energy adaptive clustering route protocol, which is used to maintain the loading balance of WSN. Aiming at the serious defect of the energy efficient protocol Leach, a refined protocol Pso_Leach is proposed, which is based on improved PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) for Wireless Sensor Network. Inertia weight in Pso_Leach varies with time and improved valve function is adopted. More Factors are considered in Pso_Leach, such as energy consumption, Euclidean distance between nodes, and distance between cluster and base station etc. Simulation results show that Pso_Leach significantly improves the energy efficiency and prolongs network’s lifetime.
