THE DESIGN OF SYSTEM SOFTWARE OF DAWNING-1000 MASSIVELY PARALLEL PROCESSING SYSTEM

The Dawning-1000 is a message passing based massively parallel processing system (MPP). In the paper, the design goals of the system software of Dawning-1000 are introduced. The important design principles, such as micro-ker-nel, user-level server, client/server model, and standard user interface, are expressed. The organization and structure of the system software are also mentioned.The design of system diagnosis and monitor, system management, parallel programming environment and tools, and parallel debugger is described in detail. Finally, the existing issues of the system software of the MPP system are analyzed.
