Modularization analysis of biochemical network based on extreme pathway

There is a general interest in modularization analysis of biochemical networks in recent years.Generally, modularization analysis can be helpful for understanding the structure and function of these networks. However, almost all of current methods consider biochemical networks as general complex networks, resulting in modules’biological insignificance. After the introduction of the basic for stoichiometric matrix and extreme pathway analysis, the butanoate metabolism of Bacillus thuringiensis is analyzed. The results suggest that extreme pathway analysis can identify functional modules in biochemical networks, with better biological significance.
