[Objective] The purpose was to supply theoretical basis for the flowering forcing of Japanese quince in Spring festival.[Method] Three different evaluation modes of chilling requirement were used to study the chilling requirements of 4 Japanese quince varieties.[Result] The ending stages of natural dormancy of 4 Japanese quince varieties had bigger difference, that of Fuchangshou and Yinchangshou were in early Dec.,that of Changshouguan was in late Dec.and that of Shijieyi was in early Jan.According to 7.2 ℃ mode, the chilling requirement of tested Japanese quince was 383.0-916.0 h,the difference was more than 2 times and the chilling requirement of Shijieyi was highest. The flower rate of different Japanese quince varieties showed positive correlation with the low temperature hours of treatment. The chilling requirement was one of the key factors in the forcing cultivation of Japanese quince.[Conclusion] Under the meteorological condition in Heze,7.2 ℃ mode was more suitable for determining the chilling requirement of Japanese quince.
