Based on many deficiencies that exist in induction motor rotor bar faults diagnosis, such as the signals are difficult to extract, easily influenced by the variation of the loads,a method based on residual voltage after AC dump via PMEM and wavelet packet analysis was introduced. The residual voltage after AC dump was analyzed and the modal of the rotor bar broken faults was built.Using the PMEM to extract the frequency of the faults and getting the node rate by using the wavelet packet to extract the signal of the residual voltage after AC dump.Simulation shows that the residual voltage after AC dump can avoid the influence of the outer factors. The node energy rate can be used to diagnose the faults. This method is effective and easy to be used in engineering.
