Objective:To compare electric impedance(PLT-I) method with optical(PLT-O) method for platelet counting by XE-2100 automatic hematology analyzer with reference to manual counting. Methods:The precision, linear range and carry-over rates of PLT-I method and PLT-O method are evaluated, and the three methods were parallelly used to test 40 healthy examination samples and 40 hematological patients with PLT abnormal. Results:The intra-assay coefficient variation and the inter-assay coefficient varia-tion of PLT-O and PLT-I methods were less than 5%,the linear range was better, both the coefficient correlation was-0.98,the car-ry-over rates were lower than 0.8%.When PLT value was less than 50,PLT value of PLT-I method was lower than manual counting(P0.05%).Conclusion:The method of PLT-O has high accuracy;the two methods are combined especially for low value samples and when results by the two methods are fairly different, manual counting is necessary.
