A Key Recovery Scheme Based on Chinese Remainder Theorem

Key recovery allows an authorized party to retrieve the cryptographic keys used for data confidentiality, with the ultimate goal of the recovery of encrypted data. There are two kinds of traditional key recovery: key escrow and key encapsulation. The key escrow mechanism lacks the security because of directly holding the user's key in deed; the key encapsulation mechanism needs to design the complicated encrypted, decrypted scheme, and thus its cost is valuable, though it improves the security. So there is very large practicality value to search the new secure and simple key recovery scheme. This paper presents a new key recovery scheme based on Chinese remainder theorem, which can recover the user's key using simple modular arithmetic when being required. It is securer than the traditional key escrow, and simpler than key encapsulation, so there are very good application prospects.
