Finding repeated image elements using interactive method
Mingmin Zhang · Computer Engineering and Applications Journal · 2011
Repeated elements are ubiquitous and abundant in both manmade and natural scenes.Recognizing such repeated elements in images is nontrivial due to overlap, missing parts, illumination variation, deformation across instances, etc.Manually labeling such repeated elements is laborious and error-prone.Thus,based on a novel boundary band theory and implemented on graphic processing units, this paper presents a novel method where user scribbles are used to detection and extraction of such repeated elements.Experimental results show that, this method can robustly extract the repetitions.Furthermore, the high processing speed of this method makes it well suited for interactive image editing.
