Image Retrieval Using Nonlinear Quantification of Region's Area and Nonlinear Mapping of the Number of Regions

Feature descriptor is one of the key technologies for content-based image retrieval.In this paper,a Area-Color Histogram is proposed to be combined with the traditional Global Color Histogram.By using nonlinear quantification of the region's area and nonlinear mapping of the number of regions,the combination makes retrieval results more closed to human vision when compared to the case where Global Color Histogram is used only.Moreover,fast retrieval speed is available by compacting the storage of Area-Color Histogram.
