The paper discusses several different types of digital frequency synthesis,compares the difference of direct digital frequency synthesis(DDS)and other frequency synthesis.A new frequency synthesizer that is designed by FPGA and HDL is chosen to design.The experimental result certifies that the direct digital frequency synthesizer has many advantages,such as wide bandwidth,low phase noise and high frequency resolution.If it is used in instruments and apparatus,it will keep down the cost,improve integration level and reliability of system.
