Analysis of Horizontal Wheel Signal based on Wavelet Transform and Wavelet Packet

The flat damage in wheelset will generate intermittent pulsedisturbance to wheel-rail during train running. When there is a contact betweenthe flat damage of wheel and rail, the additional impact is usually a few or evendozen times more than normal value. The paper employs wavelet transform andwavelet packet to analyze horizontal wheel signal and discovers the accuratecorresponding relationship between energy and each frequency band. Theresolving coefficient of wavelet packet can derive the formula of energy, so thatthe energy of any frequency band can be calculated.
