Research on TCP-Friendliness for Stored Layered MPEG2 Video Stream

A fixed control interval for TCPfriendly rate control scheme according to selfsimilar nature of MPEG2 traffic is proposed. In addition, when buffers in access sets increase, network congestion may possess as long transmission delay, rather than packet loss. Therefore, a receiverbased rate estimation TCPfriendly algorithm (RRETF) for rate control is put forward. In our simulations, good friendliness between TCP and UDP traffics can be obtained in various network environments.
