An Adaptive Random Delay Based Approach to Mitigating Network Covert Timing Channel
LI Jian-hua · Information Security and Communications Privacy · 2009
A network covert timing channel(NCTC) is one that uses the timing of packets to transmit information between networks in a stealthy way. NCTC poses a threat to confidentiality and needs to be mitigated in high-level trustworthy networks. Since NCTC resides in normal channels, any mitigation strategy against it would negatively affect the network performance. In this paper, the problem of mitigating NCTC under combined, reasonable£and practical constraints is proposed, and an approach based on adaptive random delay is given.
